Persbo Studio is a creative studio that was initiated by the American artist Jenny Yurshansky and the Swedish artists Fredrik Strid in 2011
1 hour drive North of Stockholm, surrounded by the farms and forests of the Northern Uppland County, Persbo Studio serves as a unique artistic platform within the region, housed in the structure of a 100 year old converted chapel.
From 2015 and on Persbo Studio is run by Fredrik Strid who also works with his own art production in the chapel studio.
Since 2011, Persbo Studio has been a dynamic setting for a variety of artistic activities. By establishing a sculpture park, residency program, and workshops the studio provides an opportunity to engage individual artists and collaboratives to make work, contemplate practice, and engage in discourse.
The development of this space comes out of own interest in creating an artistic hub that explores the possibilities of exchange.
The sculpture park invites one artist every year to produce a work on-site in response to the surrounding environment and a public inauguration of the sculpture is arranged annually. Persbo Studio’s function is that of a studio in the broadest sense of the term; a place where the production of work, thoughts, and interactions are cultivated.
At present, all of our activities are self-funded.
